Notice of Race
Istanbul Sailing Club in co-ordination with the Turkish Pirat Class
Association,is pleased to invite Pirat Sailors to take part in the :
To be held at Istanbul – TURKEY,from 30 July until 05 August,2006.
1.-RULES
1.1 The Regatta will be governed by the Rules as defined in the 2005-2008 ISAF
Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).
1.2 The current Class Rules of the International Pirat Class will apply.
1.3 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take
precedence.
2.-ADVERTISING
2.1 Category C will apply.
2.2 The organisers may require competitors to display event sponsor advertising
material.Stickers will be provided at registration.These should be attached to
the boat in accordance with the written instruction provided by the organiser
3.-ELIGIBILITY & ENTRY
3.1 The Regatta is open to all Pirat sailors,who comply with the ISAF
Eligibility Code.
3.2 Crew modifications may be accepted up to the start of the Regatta.
3.3 Boats shall comply with relevant Class Rules.
3.4 Eligible crews may enter by sending a message with complete
(Class,name,gender and nationality) data,before:

4.-FEES
4.1 There will be NO ENTRY FEE for the regatta.
4.2 FREE BOAT CHARTERING will apply,on the basis of (first apply first
serve).(Maximum number of the charter boats for abroad sailors is 10).
Boat chartering crews have to bring their sails & life-jackets with them).
4.3 FREE ACCOMODATION & FOOD is offered by the Club throughout the
Regatta.Organisers do not guarantee rooms without reservation.Support personel
are subject to payment of € 25/day/person for accomodation and food.
4.4 FREE TRANSFERS from and to the Airports of Istanbul will be provided, in
condition that the flight schedules are informed to the organisers in a timely
manner.
5.-REGATTA FORMAT
The Regatta will consist of a series of 7 races.(6 course race + 1 endurance
race of approx. 18 nautical miles).
6.-PROGRAMME
6.1 Each Competitor shall confirm his or her entry at the Race Office.

7.-MEASUREMENT
7.1 Only sail stamping will be made as per the schedule indicated in article
6.
8.-SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
8.1 The Sailing Instructions will be delivered to competitors at the time of
registration at the Race Office.
9.-VENUE
9.1 The regatta site is located at:

General information about to travel to Istanbul Sailing Club and its facilities
Will be available at the Club’s Web site.
10.-THE COURSES
10.1 Course type will be Olympic trapezoid with inner and outer loops.Length
of the courses will be adapted according to wind strength in order to have
expected race duration of about 50-55 minutes for the leading boats. For the 6
races of the Regatta,Pirat Class boats will use common course with IISW
races.(Competitors are asked to fulfill the requirements as defined in RRS).The
Endurance Race will be around marks,next to the coast and Princess Islands,exact
layout will be posted on the Notice Board.
11.-RULE 42
11.1 Racing Rule Appendix P will apply.(Except for the Endurance Race).
11.2 Decisions of the International Jury will be final as provided in RRS 70.4
12.-SCORING
12.1 There will be one overall ranking,Men & Women rankings will be
organised from overall rankings.
12.2 Regatta score will be established as follows:
*When fewer than four races (including Endurance Race) have been
completed,a boat score is the total of her race scores.
*When from five to seven races have been completed,a boat’s score is the total
of her race scores excluding her worst score.
12.3 The minimum number of races for the validation of the International Golden
Axe Regatta is three races.
13.- SUPPORT BOATS
13.1 Coaches,team leaders or representatives from participating nations
shall be registered at the Race Office before 10:00 hours at the first racing
day.The Club will organise FREE coach boats on shared basis for groups not
having a boat.
14.-PRIZES
14.1 Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 crews of the Regatta in each
category (M+W).Endurance Race results will be subject to a separate trophy for
the winning boat.
15.-DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
15.1 Competitors participate in the Regatta entirely at their own risk.See
RRS 4 (Decision to race).The Istanbul Sailing Club and all parties involved in
the Regatta organization will not accept any liability for material damage or
personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to,during or
after the Regatta.
16.-INSURANCE
16.1 Organisers strongly advice competitors to have a third party liability
insurance.
17.-ACCOMMODATION & MISCELLANEOUS
17.1 Accommodation for all participants is organised within the Club Campus,
in shared basis dormitories 6-15 persons/each,available upon reservation.
17.2 Marmara Sea of Istanbul,sees wind conditions from 8-16 knots with water
temperature of 24 degrees Celcius during the Regatta period.
